Soups or salads. Delicious Khichdi, Risotto, Pulao, Dosa, Pancakes, Idli, Desserts like Kheer, Pudding, etc.Recipe for Sweet Rice Dessert -
Wash & Soak Red Rice overnight or 4 to 8 hours. Then boil for about 10-15 minutes. Add fresh Coconut, Jaggery, Cardamom powder and 1 tsp Ghee. Mix & Serve.
Red Rice Dosa Batter -
Grind Dry or Soaked Red Rice, to prepare Pancakes, Dosas or Idlis. Combine Urad Dal & Methi Seeds for increased nutrition, fermentation & taste.How to Cook Red Rice - Take 1 bowl of Red rice, Wash. Soak in clay pot in three times more water than quantity of rice for 10 minutes to 1 hour. Use same water for cooking.
While cooking, add 1 tsp Taru Desi Gir Cow Ghee and Himalayan Pink Salt to taste. Bay leaves and Spices add to flavour. Cover with clay dhakkan.
When little water is remaining in the rice, switch off the gas and leave covered, to simmer in own steam. Leave covered.
Red rice retains oil between the bran and endosperm which
makes it rich in Vitamin E. Rich source of vitamins, minerals and antioxidant anthocyanins. Red rice has neuroprotective properties (Zhang et al., 2005). High in fibre, helps in weight management, low in glycemic index. Rich in iron and magnesium. Ideal for Pregnant women, Heart problem, Diabetes & Anemia. (Thakrar et al., 2007).Once packet is opened, store in glass jar or air tight plastic jar. Consume quickly or Refrigerate. Residue-free produce catches weevils easily. Composting produce is the best option if spoiled.
